The danger posed by dump trucks and concrete delivery trucks

Many California drivers are aware of the dangers that interstate driving can present. According to recent statistics, dump truck accidents and collisions involving ready-mix concrete delivery trucks are on the rise. The trucking industry, the insurance industry and federal regulators have all taken steps designed to minimize serious accidents involving these large trucks. Based on the statistics, it seems that the measures are not producing the desired results.

Both federal regulators and industry safety experts have focused on minimizing driver fatigue, which has been connected to a number of serious accidents involving large vehicles. Technology is currently being used to monitor trucks and their drivers when they're on the road. Furthermore, insurance agencies have increased fleet and vehicle insurance premiums. All of this is done in an attempt to prevent poor driving habits that can potentially cause serious truck accidents.

The most recent statistics that are currently available for dump truck accidents and accidents involving ready-mix concrete trucks are from the year 2016. According to this data, there was a 9 percent increase in the number of accidents involving dump trucks that required the vehicle to be towed. During the same year, there was a 2.7 percent increase in dump truck accidents that resulted in some type of injury. This brought the total of these types of accidents to 5,483 during 2016.

Tollway accidents involving concrete delivery trucks fared no better. During the 2016 year, these jumped by 9.6 percent. Some of the factors that are believed to have contributed to these accidents include distracted driving, speeding and drivers feeling pressure because of load incentives.

When a person is a victim of a truck accident, they may seek the assistance of a personal injury attorney. Legal counsel could help a client understand the information gathered by investigations, eyewitness reports and law enforcement officials. In addition, they could help with negotiations between their client and insurance companies.
